NL: Undrcover guarantees water supply throughout the chain

Since a few months, a small number of Dutch growers entered into a partnership with Undrcover. “The company Undrcover has developed a patented concept to ensure that there is always enough water for the plants through the whole chain and it has a trendy look. As a result a broad public may be reached and we hope to address more potential consumers", says Chris Biesheuvel of Butterfly Orchids, one of the growers which will implement the concept.

In addition to Butterfly Orchids, Undercovr also entered into a partnership with Anthurium grower de Groene Tint Anthurium, and a grower which is member of Decorum Van der Voort Potplanten, specialist in Spathiphyllums. Undrcover is now also working on Hydrangea.

Dispensing water automatically
Automatically dispensing water works with a wick at the bottom of the pot. While one end of the wick connects with the roots, the other end hangs in a water reservoir underneath. Thanks to capillary action plant roots extract the water they need. The benefit to the exporters and their clients is that they do not need to worry about drying out of the plants during the sales phase, and adequate watering shall be provided before shipment.

There are advantages for the consumer. By sporadically filling the reservoir, drowning the plant is prevented. Thanks to the view window at the bottom of the pot cover, the consumer sees the amount of water available in the reservoir.

The floor display for in the shop

The pot cover can be printed bespoke, and is available in all desired volumes. Undrcover can also provide photo prints, and they're working on a 2-way cover. There is also a complete floor display being developed for in the shop, and the consumer can decide for themselves which cover they prefer. During the Trade Fair in November in Aalsmeer, Undrcover will launch the concept and display it in a stand.
