Royal FloraHolland: Creating a good system for the future
In November and December 2015 the New Auctioning team talked to many growers during the regional meetings. Subsequently, in January and February 2016, discussions were held with buyers. "The reactions were positive, people are curious. The meetings were well attended. In Rijnsburg we reached a peak with over one hundred people. We received much useful input, which we are now processing for the regional meetings. This process arose in collaboration with all users of our marketplace," said Ronald Teerds.
Uncoupling commerce and logistics
Ronald Teerds, program director of The New Auctioning, gave a glimpse of the plans that will be presented during the regional meetings. "We all agree that commerce and logistics have to be separate. Then you can design a more efficient logistics of the marketplace." He specified that direct flows will remain an important component of sales. It is a fact that 75% of the growers will be selling less via the clock in coming years. "We shall need another transaction system for this. What type it will be, will become clearer in the coming months. We are not encountering any resistance to this in the meetings; our supporters agree that this is necessary."
The most important element to focus on now is the timing of the auction, which is likely to change. "There are many consequences associated with this change. How do we realise that they are acceptable?"
