Company celebrates its 75th anniversary
Florensis has a new corporate design
“The logo is strong and recognizable and reflects our mission to conduct our business in a trustworthy, innovative and sustainable way. The colors blue, green and purple are a good match for our flowers and plants,” says Leo Hoogendoorn, COO of Florensis. “‘We are proud that we have experienced strong growth with the support of our staff and business associates. By investing in innovative varieties, automation and marketing, and also in alliances and suppliers, we can now regard ourselves as the market leader in a broad range of products, including bedding and pot plants, perennials, vegetables, herbs and grasses. We are very proud of this! We look forward with confidence to the coming years when we will make our products and processes even more sustainable."
The family business started in 1941 as ‘J. Hamer Jr Bloemzaden’, selling packets of flower seed to consumers. From the 1970s onwards, Hamer focused entirely on sales of seed and young plants to professional growers, and in 1986 launched its first nursery under the name ‘Hamer Plant’. Since 2000 the trading name ‘Florensis’ has been used for all activities carried out by the various companies both within the Netherlands and abroad.
Today Florensis has production sites in the Netherlands, Kenya, Ethiopia and Portugal as well as six sales offices in Europe, and is highly distinctive thanks to its broad product range, in-house production chain, distribution capabilities and a remarkably high level of customer loyalty. As a result, Florensis won the Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs (Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize) in 2015 and last January also won the International Grower of the Year Award in the Young Plants category.
