Prom and wedding season is heating up

Once a week, DVFlora brings highlights of what’s going on across the markets – fresh and hardgoods alike. They’ll touch on topics like supply & demand, season beginnings/endings, weather forecasts and everything in between. This time, the spotlight is on the upcoming prom and wedding season.

Roses
"Production is very poor and demand is through the roof. We don’t see much relief coming anytime soon.

"Standard Roses – specific varieties are impossible to get. We are experiencing shortages with every shipment. We will have good quantities and selections of all colors and shades but no variety is a guarantee. Prices this week and next week are well over Mother’s Day pricing. That will not change through next week and we expect for the following two weeks, prices will remain high. Prices on Red Roses are up a little but still reasonable.

"Garden roses– up through now, we’ve done pretty well. We have a good inventory but similar to standard roses, specific varieties will be tough to secure.

"Spray roses– This is the toughest of all flowers this time of year. NO variety is a guarantee here. We have a healthy inventory for next week but will have shortages on even the most common varieties (Majolicas, Ilse, etc…). We have lots of pinks and whites so please try to be flexible and work with the varieties we have available. We have been filling in with Sprays from Holland but the prices are extremely high."
