India: Growers express concern over neglect of floriculture
The Floriculture sector, which has the capability to create a huge job opportunity for the J&K, has been ignored by the PDP-BJP coalition government, the Flower Grower’s Association here said.
Tejinder Singh, president of the association said that Flower Growers had expected that new government will take drastic measures to encourage the flower growers but nothing much has been announced for them in recent budget session, he said.
“Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had given a slogan of prosperity through commercial Floriculture. We welcome it but Floriculture need a strategic roadmap, commercial Floriculture policy and accountability," he said.
He said that as per industrial policy Order No. 58-IND of 2016 dated 15.03.2016 Floriculture in green house is an industry adding that if industrialists from outside Jammu and Kashmir get interest subsidy for working capital requirements why don’t Floriculture units holders of Jammu and Kashmir who have sharp competition from cooperate flower growers from Maharashtra and other states get this subsidy.
