US: DVFG acquires Pittsburgh Cut Flower Company

The Delaware Valley Floral Group (DVFG) has reached an agreement to acquire certain assets of the Pittsburgh Cut Flower Company (PCF). The acquisition will be completed on August 1, 2016. PCF has two locations, located in Pittsburgh and Erie Pennsylvania. With corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, PCF is a 118-year-old wholesaler serving Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. The Pittsburgh and Erie locations will be consolidated into DVFlora, a division of DVFG.

The customers of the Pittsburgh and Erie locations will be served through a new Cranberry, PA facility, which will become a new DVFlora Sales and Distribution Center. Bob Luthultz, President of PCF will be managing the new region for DVFlora. Salespeople and other key personnel from both locations will be joining DVFlora. Bob Luthultz, commented; “We are delighted that the members of our Pittsburgh and Erie staff will be joining DVFlora, a leader in the industry.”

Ken Wilkins, DVFG’s VP of Business Development, commented: “PCF has been a market leader in the region for over a century. They have an outstanding reputation and our two companies share many business and cultural values. We are pleased all 10 of the salespeople from the Pittsburgh and Erie locations will be joining DVFlora and will be continuing to work in their respective markets. This acquisition will combine the deep experience of the PCF team with the proven operating model of DVFlora. Having the PCF team join DVFlora will make us a stronger company. We have had great success over the last few years joining forces with regional wholesale florists. We remain committed to our successful acquisition strategy and currently are seeking additional opportunities to grow our business through acquisitions.”

Jack Chidester, DVFG’s CEO, stated: “The PCF Pittsburgh and Erie locations are our ninth set of acquisitions in recent years. Along with our sales and distribution centers in Syracuse NY and Wilkes-Barre PA, which were opened in 2015, the new sales and distribution center in Cranberry, will further support our expansion West and North in the Mid-Atlantic marketplace.”
