Gardeners grow 9ft 8in delphinium plant

"Is this the world's tallest delphinium?" That's what a keen pair of gardeners in North Lincolnshire believe after their plant grew ... and grew ... to 9ft 8in.

It's thanks to the tender care of David Dunn, 59, and his wife Elizabeth, 62, that the delphinium plant has smashed the current world record of 8ft 3ins.

However, their record will never be officially recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records because by the time the organisation would be able to verify their record-breaker, it will have died.
