Bangladesh: Cut flower exports decline as domestic consumption rises

Exports of cut flowers from Bangladesh have been declining in the last four years despite a significant rise in production.

Sector insiders have attributed the downward trend in shipment of flowers to factors like inadequate air space, lack of post-harvest management and cooling transportation facilities.

Flower traders said a sharp rise in the demand for flowers in the domestic market is also responsible for the lower-than-expected level of exports.
