FloraXchange Services celebrates 13,500 orders in the first year
FloraXchange launched FloraXchange Services exactly one year ago. This initiative aims to promote trade between various regions by setting up the process very efficiently. In one year’s time FloraXchange Services was rolled out in the Boskoop and Venlo regions and the participating buyers to date have already placed 13,500 orders with more than 40 growers. In the future the initiative will be further rolled out to other regions.
Excellent handling of small orders
On 1 September 2015 FloraXchange Services started in the Boskoop region, with five buyers (E. den Dekker, Javado, Kobitex, Dames Plants and Noviflora) and 50 growers. Including the Venlo region, one year later there are 71 growers actively participating in the initiative. The majority of participants felt that logistics could be handled more efficiently, especially when it comes to small orders. "In the past, small orders were often canceled due to the high costs and having to arrange transport oneself. Through FloraXchange Services you can also perfectly sell small orders, transport is covered and billing goes through the system. This leads to less administration," says grower Janwillem Bakhuyzen.
One joint, valuable system
Hendrico de Brabander from Noviflora believes that more growers should join FloraXchange Services with their supply: "The more growers work with FloraXchange Services, the more valuable the system is. Offering their supply on a limited range of platforms also saves growers time. One joint and real-time system works more efficiently. The wider and more appropriate the digital offer becomes, the more we can effectively sell our market knowledge to our customers."
Growing transaction numbers
Despite a quiet start the first year is considered to have been a good season. "We’re seeing growing transaction numbers, so now we must give adequate follow-through," says FloraXchange account manager Jan van der Lans. In the coming period some adjustments are being prepared and FloraXchange Services will be rolled out in other areas. An interest has already been shown in Aalsmeer, among others. Through good cooperation with buyers, growers and transporters and with the help of technology, more efficient trade is possible. "We are convinced that all three parties benefit from participation in FloraXchange Services. Stock from the nursery is not only better for the quality of the products. Because of the possibilities offered by current technology it also represents an excellent opportunity for more and better direct trade through the existing chain."
