India: Noida Floriculture Society promotes air purifying plants

On the occasion of World Nature Day, which is celebrated on October 3, the Floriculture Society of Noida has decided to spread the message that "a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and productive society." With an aim to ensure the well-being of present and future generations, the Society has taken it upon itself to empower and motivate residents to plant greens, which help in reducing pollution both on city streets as well as inside their homes.

A plant bazaar has also been scheduled on Saturday October 1 between 3 and 7 pm at the Jal Vayu Vihar Community Center in sector 21, where 'green' enthusiasts will be able to indulge themselves besides taking away with them plants that purify the air and important 'green' tips.

Speaking to TOI, Manju Grover of the Society said residents can take steps to minimize the chemicals in a home by simply bringing green plants indoors. "Our cities have turned into concrete jungles. We must change it for better health. Certain houseplants can bring a breath of fresh air to indoor environments and detoxify our homes without the expense of pricey — and noisy — air purifiers on the market," she said.
