EILO trip

Green walls aplenty in Scandinavia

At the end of September, efig's chairman Chris Jenkin and also chairman of Enterprise Plants, attended EILO's conference in Scandinavia. He has provided a brief but interesting report about the programme and what was seen.

Spiio- Martin Dal
  • Remote data management for green walls via on-line system on monitors
  • Light, temperature and moisture
  • Seems expensive but could be useful in specific instances
Naturevention - Niko Jarvinen, Finland
  • Air cleaning mobile green walls using principles of Bill Wolverton by passing air over microbes actively working on root systems. The planting medium has been designed to allow air to pass through root systems.
  • Lots of research completed on air cleaning and benefits of having clean air in offices
  • Marketed as the Naava System
  • These green walls that draw air through them and emit cleaner air at the top seem to be selling well and are backed by loads of research.
Greenfortune has developed Green Wires
The Greenwires are created from a fabric pocket system, back to back and irrigated from the top, with drainage out of the bottom.
