The National Floriculture Forum (NFF) has announced its 2017 annual meeting will be held in Philadelphia from March 17-19, 2017 during the Philadelphia International Flower Show.
Participants of the meeting will attend the show and tour Longwood Gardens, and gather to discuss increasing the younger generation’s involvement in production and academic floriculture and horticulture.
Members of the Young Professionals Council (YPC) will also attend and discuss their work on this topic.
“I am very excited to be planning the 2017 event in Philadelphia. This is so important for the floriculture community, as it is one of the few events where academia and industry come together to discuss the pressing issues of floriculture,” said Krystal Snyder, 2017 NFF event coordinator and YPC member.
“This year’s event is focused on ways to get the younger generation involved, and I am enthusiastic because the current generation has a wealth of knowledge to be shared.”
The NFF is an annual educational meeting for greenhouse growers, industry leaders, university faculty, graduate students and government scientists from academic institutions, governmental agencies and the greenhouse industry.
The event gives participants an opportunity to debate the future of floriculture against the dramatic changes in the global business environment.
Its objectives are to address floriculture industry issues, form relationships and improve communication within the industry to share information.
Tours, seminars, posters and discussions during the NFF meetings allow the leaders of floriculture to discuss strategies to improve the image and prestige of floriculture.
National Floriculture ForumThe NFF has recently partnered with AFE to permanently host all NFF information online about the group and its annual meetings. Links to current and past events, registration information, schedules, photos and a detailed history of the NFF are all online at endowment.org/nff.
AFE also collaborated with the NFF to create a new logo for them.
The NFF meeting is the only one of its kind and continues to bring members of the floriculture community together each year.
The 2016 meeting was held in Holland and Germany in January, where the theme was “International Horticulture and IPM.” Participants visited greenhouse operations, the flower auction and other horticultural sites. This guided excursion was a way for growers and horticultural professionals to visit the famous IPM Trade Show and meet growers in the Netherlands.
