US (PA): Longwood Gardens shows off chrysanthemum with 1,523 blooms

Longwood Gardens will feature the largest chrysanthemum grown outside of Asia at its annual Chrysanthemum Festival.

The plant, known as the "Thousand Bloom," has 1,523 uniform blooms and will be highlighted in Longwood's 4-acre conservatory.

Nurtured by the ancient Japanese technique called Ozukuri, the plant grew 12½ feet wide in about 18 months. It towers nearly 8 feet.
