Indian PM said to import flowers from Thailand

In the season of demonetisation in India, it has come to light that flowers for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Bahraich were imported from Thailand. Some wonder why so much money was splurged on flowers for PM Modi's rally in Uttar Pradesh ahead of 2017 assembly elections.

For PM's Parivartan rallies in the state, a team of 16 florists from Kolkata and Basti regions have been handed over the responsibility of decoration. Other than decorating the stage with flowers, they will also make traditional rangoli. Shankar and Nadu from Kolkata and Rahul Saini from Basti are leading the team of decorators, reported Patrika.

For the Bahraich rally, other than orchid flowers from Thailand, Guldaudi and Sanam India flowers were also used for rangoli and stage decoration. Also, Genda from Banaras, roses from Delhi and colourful Jarbera flowers were used in the rally. At least two pick-up vans full of flowers made rounds of the venue a day ahead of PM Modi's rally.
