Managing crops after harvest in controlled climate conditions:

Avoid damage from excessive changes in temperature and humidity

In order to deliver vegetables, fruit or crop after harvest in good quality to consumers, maintaining controlled conditions for storage, ripening or further processing is needed.

Circulating air at varying degrees of heat allows crops to be stored for extended periods of time with minimal deterioration. The circulation of air helps maintain the moisture, temperature, and oxygen content of a crop at optimum levels.

Sub-optimal drying or cooling conditions enhances product losses during storage from causes such as:
  • premature and unseasonable germination
  • development of moulds
  • proliferation of insects
The continuous flow of air through the product is essential and can only be obtained through correctly designed systems and reliable fans. Make sure you have fans that provide enough airflow and stable pressure capacity to dry or cool, otherwise disease, decay and injury to vegetables, fruit or crop will continue.
