Mandatory batch declaration for exports to US & Canada

Batch declaration for the crops Perennials, Freesia and Nerine is mandatory from 2017 if they are exported to America and Canada.

Parcel declaration is no longer sufficient
Only a parcel declaration for USA and/or Canada is no longer accepted by USDA, NVWA and Naktuinbouw. Companies exporting with the PSI-system to the USA and/or Canada are this year obliged to make a cultivation declaration at batch level. Companies do require a unique batch number (certificate number) for export.

Requirements outside EU increasingly more stringent
Because of stricter requirements from third countries (countries outside the EU) cultivation registration per batch is increasingly more important. It is expected that this will further increase in the future. In cultivation for export outside the EU, Naktuinbouw recommends to do this per batch.

Declaration per batch has many advantages
Naktuinbouw inspects the batches and attach them with information (at a later stage) that is of importance for the Chain Registration. This ensures that your batch can be traded within and outside the EU.

Customers who use the Chain Registration (eg bulb trading companies) apply for a batch number. In that case, cultivation declarations by batch are highly recommended. Irrespective of whether the batch finally ends up within or outside the EU.
