NL: Plant nursery Valstar ready to start propagation of rose plants

By now, the lighting fixtures have been installed, and the new potted rose division of plant nursery Valstar is almost in operation. "In about 4 weeks everything must be completed. We are now at the end of the construction phase", says Jan Valstar, owner of this Dutch company.

Concerning lightning, Agrolux is the appointed supplier. Valstar combines just about every type of lighting. Jan Valstar: "For the propagation one part is 100% LED, because of the distance to the cultivation tables (part of the first cultivation phase is on the second level). Another part is at the beginning of the cultivation under 100% SON-T and for the last phase a hybrid lighting is used."

A few months ago, it was decided to market the potted rose assortment of Dümmen Orange based on mutual exclusivity. An existing company, located on the Naaldwijkseweg in 's-Gravenzande was purchased for this purpose and fully optimized for the potted roses. With the lighting they are almost there: "Now, some more work in the field of mechanization and automation, and we are really ready. A matter of some 4 weeks."

The plants needed for building-up the assortment will be delivered in the coming weeks and will hit the market after the summer.
