Hong Kong: Flower prices shoot up after typhoons
Raymond Kwok Pak-tung, a seller who has rented four stalls for next month's Lunar New Year Fair in Victoria Park, said most flowers will be more expensive, and a 10-foot peach blossom will cost more than double at HK$38,000 (4,800 USD).
Kwok attributed the massive increase to typhoons damaging flowers and reducing supplies.
He cited as example tall peach blossoms that were "broken during the typhoons, which reduced supply by 40 percent."
