Thailand: Dutch companies well represented at Horti Asia

The sixth edition of Horti ASIA, the region’s largest trade exhibition for Horticulture in Asia, is wrapping up. The event, held in Bangkok, Thailand, emphasizes agricultural solutions that are both relevant and important to the development of agriculture in the Asian markets. The expo therefore attracts a huge number of exhibitors from all over the world (300 companies from 28 countries) and agricultural buyers from across the region, as reports.

Dutch presence
In his speech at the grand opening of Horti Asia 2018, Mr Willem Schoustra, Agricultural Counsellor, mentioned that the presence of over 20 Dutch companies makes the Netherlands the largest European delegation at Horti Asia. In his words: "A tiny country feeds the world".

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Bangkok organized a conference on horticulture innovation, one of several seminars the Dutch hosted during Horti Asia

Dutch companies participating in the show included Koppert, East West Seed, Priva, Rijk Zwaan, Genap B.V. VEK, Van den Bos Flowerbulbs, Greefa and others. Apart from company booths, the Dutch Embassies in the region hosted a Dutch Pavillion, where international visitors were welcomed and introduced to Dutch companies, their products and technologies.

"In addition to research, our mission is to also educate farmers. It's not a lofty objective, we are not an NGO but we want farmers to know how to use quality seeds to get the best possible yields", stressed Bert van der Feltz, President and CEO of EWS at the International Horticultural Forum on horticultural product quality.
