Ecuador: Jet Fresh Flower Growers hosts Brunch en la Finca

On September 20, 2018 the Jet Fresh family hosted their first-ever Brunch en la Finca farm tour event at their rose farm, Jet Fresh Flower Growers, S.A. in Cotopaxi, Ecuador.

Set during the week of the floral trade shows in Quito — Flor Ecuador 2018 and Agriflor 2018 — they welcomed a group of people in the floral industry who wanted to share a fun tour experience Jet Fresh-style.

The tour was not only an educational experience, but an entertaining one as well. Guests learned about the growing and production processes, as well as witnessed the grower's newest variety, “White House” being grafted. Immediately following the tour was an Ecuadorian brunch overlooking the reservoir with bottomless drinks and live entertainment.

Testing ground
Before heading into the greenhouses, the tour group was first introduced to rose varieties testing in water. This includes the blue and red ribbon winners from SAF’s 2018 Outstanding Varieties Competition: “Milva,” “Encanto” and “Avant Garde.”

Puppy love
The farm pups, Blacky and Whitey welcomed the group with big smiles, and joined the tour through the greenhouses.

Greenhouse tour
Melisa, the farm-direct sales rep, conducted the tour leading the group through the different greenhouses and explaining the growing process. Some even trimmed a rose stem for the very first time.

This was a very educational experience; especially for those who have been in the floral industry for a long time, yet have never had the chance to trim a stem directly from the greenhouse.

Brunch en la Finca
With clear skies and crispy air, the Brunch en la Finca event commenced, immediately following the tour inside the post-production room.

The brunch overlooked the reservoir, right next to the “casita” where the grower served brunch buffet-style. Bottomless mimosas were passed out throughout the event, along with other delicious Ecuadorian accompaniments.

Fresh-cut roses directly from the farm were also decorated on the tables creating the perfect farm-to-table atmosphere.

Lastly but certainly not least, Ecuadorian music was performed live giving visitors the ultimate experience at the farm. The Growers family led the dance party, and everyone had a wonderful time dancing and enjoying each other’s company.
