Pro Manager Mastercourse Floriculture, Jungle Talks

International managers on tour in the Netherlands

Yesterday, 16 international floricultural managers started their Pro Manager Mastercourse Floriculture. The group, now two weeks in the Netherlands to improve their knowledge level, gathered for their first meeting at the Westland Museum in the town of Honselersdijk. Later on, they visited the Certhon Innovation Center and listened to various presentations of horticultural startups.

The sixteen selected managers of international ‘future proof’ floricultural companies are travelling in the Netherlands until November 10. They are all between 25 and 40 years old and manager or already CEO at a renowned company. For two weeks, the participants will be received by the directors of leading Dutch horticultural companies. During these visits, focus lies on sharing vision and strategy, not so much on products and services. This experience must contribute to their development towards director/CEO. After two weeks of company visits, complemented by inspirational sessions and interactive meetings and workshops, the participants will present their personal vision on the future of the international floricultural sector and the role of their company in it.

Impressed
The Mastercourse program kicked off on Monday in the Westland Museum, where the participants got to know each other and introduced themselves to various partners and supporters of the course. The group subsequently got a tour at the Innovation Center of Certhon in Poeldijk. Here, the company has been investigating how to optimize technologies of growing without natural light. The available cultivation chambers and far-reaching developments in the field of vertical farming made quite an impression on the group. In addition, Innovation Quarter and FoodStars presented themselves and a number of startups and these presentations led to animated discussions on innovation in horticulture. During the next days, the participants will visit various companies and meet with various ‘captains of industry’ of the Dutch horticultural sector. In this way they not only get acquainted with the latest (technological) developments, but also get trained in specific skills.

The Pro Manager Mastercourse Floriculture is an initiative of Jungle Talks in close cooperation with three partners: Koppert Biological Systems, Ridder Growing Solutions and Rabobank. In addition, the following companies and organizations support the Mastercourse: Beekenkamp Plants, Wageningen University & Research, Mprise Agriware, Klasmann-Deilmann, Imagro, Van der Valk Horti Systems, Benefits of Nature, World Horti Center, Horti Heroes, Innovation Quarter and World Startup Factory. The sixteen participants come from the United States (3), Guatemala (2), Brazil (2), Colombia, Kenya (3), Uganda, Slovenia, Denmark, Poland and Vietnam.

The programme can be found here (part 1 and part 2).
