EFSA is inviting comments on its draft guidance for assessing plants listed as high-risk by the European Union.
Last week experts from all EU countries approved a list of 39 plants that are deemed to be high-risk because they are associated with dangerous plant pests. These plants are provisionally prohibited from being imported into the EU. However, the national plant protection organisations (NPPOs) of exporting third countries can apply to have a plant or plants removed from the list. The guidance under development will be used by EFSA to assess dossiers submitted in support of such requests.
Interested parties can submit comments on the guidance until 24 January 2019.
EFSA has already specified the information and data required to perform the assessments.
