80% of the outdoor plant seedling production greenhouse in Odemis is completed and the facility is expected to be operational within January 2019.
The greenhouse is set in an area of 11 hectares and commissioned by Odemis Ornamental Plant Growers Cooperative.
The project was also supported by various government institutions through financial funds. There are 4 greenhouses in the facility in addition to a 1,500 square meter logistic operation center.
Project Coordinator Huseyin Cabbar: “We are almost done with the construction of the greenhouses. We have 70 growers who have a share in the facility. We would like to include all ornamental plant growers to this project. We will have production at a very high quality which will open up pathways for export.
Our goal is to grow 12 million seedlings from cuttings annually. Additionally there are products which will be grown from seeds. The whole facility costs about 1.6 million USD. Our cooperative covers about 200,000 USD of this cost. The rest is covered by state and government funds. Our growers will be able to increase their income significantly through this facility.”
