Russia: Orchids from Buryatia enter Siberia and the Far East

The growers of a greenhouse complex built in 2016 in the village of Bryansk in the Kabansk region of Buryatia, with the help of foreign investments, produced almost 60 thousand orchids in 2018.

The greenhouse complex is the biggest in Eastern Siberia, with an acreage of a thousand square meters, and works year-round. The orchids of Buryatia have twice been presented at the FlowersExpo in Moscow.

For the Russian market, they have a competitive advantage over the flowers from Europe, as they do not need to be cleared through customs, they are not transported several times or stored over a long period, thus they are less prone to stress or disease.

The tropical flowers grown in Buryatia are sold not only in the republic itself, but are also supplied to Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok and Yakutia. There are further plans to conquer Novosibirsk, informed the Ministry of Economics of Buryatia.
