Kenya: Chinese investor ordered to demolish Lake Naivasha hotel

The Kenyan government has issued a 14-day notice to a Chinese investor to bring down an upcoming hotel on the shores of Lake Naivasha.

The notice by Nema orders the owner of Boffer Farm, where the hotel is located, to demolish it or face legal action.

The notice comes after several NGOs raised the alert over the ongoing construction of the facility located a few metres from the lake.

Nakuru county Nema director Antony Saisi said the building was constructed illegally.

He said the authority’s officers visited the hotel that is still under construction and ordered its owners to promptly bring it down.
