Women growers have started production in greenhouses established in Osmaniye, a city located in southern Turkey. City Agricultural Officer Ibrahim Saglam: “The greenhouse is set as a social responsibility initiative to encourage women to participate in the workforce. The name of the project is “Hands with rosy smell” and this greenhouse is set up so women can learn how to grow cut roses and become growers themselves.
We are trying to support women who are looking to become growers and increase their role in agricultural production as entrepreneurs. That’s why we have such programs. Additionally we are looking for ways to help women growers to set up a cooperative of women growers and will offer all of our support for this matter too. We believe that increasing women’s participation in agricultural production will bring a lot of economic benefits to our country’s economy.”
