Like your favorite pair of shoes need a new sole once in a while, the material in a greenhouse needs the occasional maintenance to keep work running smoothly.
More operational security
Dutch Gerbera grower Schouten Opti-Fleurs started the renovation of the screen installation last week. Luiten Greenhouses is replacing the atlas wires, and in the upper installation the pulling wire system is replaced by a semi pull-push system. "After eleven years, wire breakage was only increasing in the system, and we grew tired of it. A pull-push system is not only easier to install, it also offers more operational security."
There will also be a new diffuse cloth, the RLD 25 FR O by Ridder. Bart: "We have stopped using the summer cloth we had because it was too dark. Instead, we applied diffuse chalk in the summer months. This is now being replaced by a diffuse cloth."
Fire retardant cloth
The cloths will be installed on the entire surface of the garden, about 27,000 m2. The side panels will be equipped with a fire retardant cloth, the RBO 100 R FR W. When the work is completed in a couple of weeks, the Schouten brothers again can focus completely on growing gerberas.
