Netherlands: Donation for Anne Frank tree in De Kwakel

On Thursday 14 February, Ramon of OZ Planten handed over a cheque worth €600 to the representatives of the scouting at De Kwakel (Jeanet ten Brink, Jim Raadschelders and Jim Spek).

The members of the Scouting Association St. Johannes Group were looking for an appropriate memorial for the commemoration of the World War 2 victims on the 4th of May.

That's why a descendant of the real Anne Frank tree has been planted at the commemoration location. In addition, a cast iron fence was installed, provided with a memorial plaque with the text ‘Freedom grows’.

The money was saved by the employees of OZ Planten. It’s an annual tradition to donate money to a charity with which the employees feel closely involved. The staff chooses the charity themselves.

In 2019 money will be saved for the ‘Hartwig Medical Foundation’, an organization that establishes a DNA database in the fight against cancer.
