In the greenhouses, most crops are growing strongly at the moment, and some are even being harvested already. This is also the perfect moment for a little maintenance, according to Doek en Draad. "Most of the cold weather seems to be over and the sun isn't very strong yet. That is why now a good time for maintenance to extend the lifespan of screen cloth", says Cees van der Kaaij.
Since mid-February Doek en Draad has discount campaign for their customers. Their May special offers a 5 cent per m2 discount. "At the moment, growers have time and perhaps also the necessary manpower for maintenance. Maintenance is a good way to keep them busy."
Cees says that growers should pay attention to a number of things. "Think about sprockets, pull wires, shaft bearings and also check whether thread guides, slip blocks or polyester threads need to be replaced. We support and facilitate this maintenance free of charge, whether the customer does it or we do all or some of it ourselves."
