As of March 31, 2019, Ms Elisa Markula will become CIOPORA Germany's new Secretary General managing the affairs of the national association in the framework of CIOPORA Germany's associate membership at the German Horticultural Association (Zentralverband Gartenbau e. V. - ZVG). Elisa's appointment was officially announced at the CIOPORA Germany's Annual General Meeting 2019 on February 21-22 in Hanover, Germany.
Elisa, who has been with the German Horticultural Association since 2016, holds a Master's in horticulture. She started her career at ZVG in a PR & Communications role and is presently in charge of two organizations, the ZVG Young Plant section and Hortigate, with CIOPORA Germany to become the third.
Juergen Grunewaldt retires
Prof Dr Juergen Grunewaldt officially announced his retirement from his role as a Secretary General of CIOPORA Germany at the association's Annual General Meeting 2019 on February 21 - 22 in Hanover, Germany. Resigning after heading CIOPORA Germany for over a decade, he will remain active at the Institute of Plant Genetics at the Leibniz University of Hanover.
Over the course of his career, Prof Grunewaldt has worked at the leading German institutions, including Max Planck Society, University of Hannover and the Ahrensburg Institute for Ornamental Plant Breeding, conducting his academic work in the field of Applied Genetics and Plant Breeding.
