At Floritec's production location they constantly analyse data. From various processes they determine use of materials and energy consumption. Each process is monitored and improvements are initiated where needed.
However, it's not only about figures, but it's about people too, as is evident from a look at the breeder's cuttings production location, Xclusive Cuttings in Uganda.
Substrate
This is why they grow their mother plants in substrate:
- Substrate (pumice stone) can be disinfected by steaming
- Steaming has proven to be more effective compared to other ways of disinfection
- Much better for the environment
- More accurate dosing of purified water and nutrients

Energy consumption
XClusive Uganda switched from traditional light bulbs, through Energy savers to LED light. As a result energy consumption has been reduced drastically, from 100 Watt to 34 Watt to 11 Watt. The lamp effectivity per m2 went from 10 m2 to 16 m2, a total of 80 % energy saving.
Quality checks
Quality checking already starts during the harvesting process but after that too.
Finally the cuttings are transported to growers. The growers will produce the flowers that will find their way to worldwide consumers.
