"A downward spiral is imminent for cargo at Schiphol airport"

The trade association of the Dutch air cargo industry, Air Cargo Netherlands (ACN), expresses its concern in Dutch financial newspaper FD about the future of cargo at Schiphol. "A downward spiral is imminent," says director Maarten van As.

As a result of a lack of space at the airport, job losses are feared because airlines are moving their sales and marketing departments.

In the past year, various air cargo companies moved part of their flights to Liege, Brussels and Maastricht because they could no longer go to Schiphol, which is an important flower hub.
