UK: Dutch flowers used to cover up cannabis shipment

A 25-year-old drugs courier who went to collect 47kg of cannabis from a Dutch lorry driver in a car park in Cirencester was jailed for two years.

The drugs had been concealed amidst a cargo of Dutch flowers to hide the smell, Gloucester Crown Court was told.

Each of the boxes contained flowers so that on first glance they appeared to be part of his legitimate business of transporting floral products.

Below the flowers, the boxes actually contained vacuum packed cannabis, the court was told.

The vacuum packing was so effective it obscured the aroma of cannabis completely.

The lorry contained a total of 141 kilograms of cannabis with a potential street value of £1.4 million, prosecutor Janine Wood said.
