Festival organizers have announced that for the first time ever, Bloom, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival, will be opening early.
Organizers explain that rows of colourful tulips are already beginning to blossom, with millions of bulbs soon to follow.
More than 2.5 million tulips are expected to reach full bloom and approximately 90,000 visitors are expected over the course of the five-week festival.
Located just off Highway 1 at No. 3 Road/Exit 104, and about an hour drive from Vancouver, Bloom was founded by Alexis Warmerdam, a third-generation Canadian tulip farmer and fourth generation bulb grower with Lakeland Flowers, and a strong advocate for young BC farmers.
