Sensors equipped with ventilation for accurate measurement results

Many growers have them in their greenhouses in 2019: sensors. They are the virtual senses that provide the grower with insights in temperature, humidity, and CO2. The more accurate, the better. “Sunlight and heat can influence the measurement results, so a good casing for the sensors is important,” says Hans Weisbeek of Hinova. The company uses their newly developed sensors to take a shot at the Innovation Awards during the Greentech.

Casing
Together with Ventilation Jet System, Hinova has developed a screen ventilation system that blows the cold and dry air from above the screen into the greenhouse. Now Hinova gives us sensors that, again, uses a ventilation system. “An active ventilation system in the casing will constantly provide fresh air to the sensors,” Hans says. The casing was developed by Hinova, being a member of the Club of 100, as an update to the models of Wageningen University & Research.

Wireless network
“Growers want to get the most out of their crops, whether they be tomatoes or roses. Depending on the crop, different factors are important, which is why the sensor doesn’t only measure temperature and humidity but also has the option of being equipped for measuring CO2. The sensors can be connected to the wireless network that is used by other Hinova products as well. The sensors can also be linked to every type of climate computer and can share the measurement results via the internet on platforms like LetsGrow.com”.
