UK: "Interesting highlights at Malvern Spring Festival"

The Royal Horticultural Society’s Malvern Spring Festival brings forth some interesting highlights in the horticultural world. Michael Warren, a Horticultural Journalist of many years, shares his findings.

"An exciting new introduction came from John Fielding, an amateur breeder who has taken 25 years hybridising Asiatic Ranunculus to launch 4 colours under the ROCOCO name. Reaching 20 – 60 cm they are suitable for garden and cutting. In the Clematis world, Priorswood have achieved 40 years spanning two generations.

"Amongst the four Gold Medal gardens, Peter Dowle's ‘The Leaf Garden of Quiet Contemplation’ was very popular to visitors and judges and Ice Alpines won ‘Best Exhibit in the Plant Arcade’.

"Interesting plants noticed include “Giant Black Parsley” (Melaosilinum deciepens), Sophora davidii, Chloranthus sessilifolius ‘Domino’ and the glossy foliaged Lysimachia paridiformis v. paridiformis."
