BeautiCal, the next generation Petchoa, is to make three appearances at shows this summer, including displays at Gardeners’ World Live, RHS Chelsea as well as starring on the Earley Ornamentals’ stand at the 10th HTA National Plant Show.
Sakata’s BeautiCal Caramel Yellow is going to be on show at 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May in The Welcome to Yorkshire Garden. BeautiCal will also be used in HTA features in the Show’s Flower marquee and entered in the New Plant category competition. In addition, the new X Petchoa will be displayed as a pyramid-planted mono crop at Gardeners’ World at the Birmingham NEC in June.
Earley Ornamentals already features BeautiCal in its catalogue, and managing director Simon Earley is delighted it will be receiving such great exposure this summer, he said: “As you may have seen over recent months BeautiCal is one of the new varieties that we have been championing in our Spotlight 2019 collection.
“It offers a more mounded habit than SuperCal with larger flowers. This makes it a great growing option for the pot and patio segment, and it’s impressive at retail. We know it will make a great impression at these forthcoming shows.”
Suited to 10.5-12cm pots and mix containers, BeautiCal provides very good weather and rain tolerance as well as mildew resistance. Its blooms with their novel patterns flower profusely and are long-lasting, until the end of summer.
