Dutch ornamental industry buds in Romania with a flower christening

The Netherlands and Romania have made a public-private partnership in regards to the ornamental industry. On the 16th of May 2019, The Netherlands Enterprise Agency and a bunch of Dutch companies and knowledge institutes signed a Memo of Understanding (MoU) in Romania.

The public-private partnership, within the Partners for International Business (PIB), is looking to connect to the Romanian market by intruding the Green Cities concept, and they aim to improve the living environment in the Romanian cities. More green care for improved environmental, social and economic aspects in the living environment. They also focus on the knowledge exchange between Dutch and Romanian knowledge institutes.

Connecting
When signing, people picked out a fitting symbol for this phase of the PIB. The cooperation between the Netherlands and Romania in the field of the ornamental industry was symbolized with the flower breeds; Rhenus Petrina and the Donau Romantica. Upon signing, these plants were planted and christened by the Dutch and Romanian participants.

The rivers which the flowers are named after (the Rhine and the Danube) are connected. In the same way, the PIB-program urban Landscape Romania also wants to connect the Dutch ornamental industry with the Romanian market.

A versatile collaboration
The MoU for knowledge exchange was signed by the cluster Urban Landscapes Romania and the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) in Bucharest. The people who signed show the versatility of the collaboration. Representatives of the Dutch embassy and the Romanian University USAMV, as well as the trade association Anthos, signed their signatures.

The cluster Urban Landscapes Romania is made up of 6 companies (Van den Berk, Ebben, Nophadrain, Molter, Jub Holland, Seuren Rozenkwekerijen) and Anthos, a trade association of trading companies in flower bulbs and tree nursery products.

Partners for International Business (PIB)
The PIB-program organizes all sorts of trading activities, among which the demo project Dutch Green City. The project shows how Dutch designs, technologies, and materials contribute to the wellbeing of Romanian cities. At the same time, the project provides a learning environment for students, growers, and architects.
