Horticulture growers in North America face new challenges every day. From market and labor pressures, to keeping up with the latest trends in landscaping, the problems can be almost overwhelming.
This led Javo USA, Inc. to look for a new approach to help its clients and the new Javo USA website (http://javousa.net/) is part of that process.
The web site focuses on solutions for growers, not just a listing of machines that are available.
“We have more than 40 machines in the Javo line-up,” said Javo USA General Manager Michiel Vanderwaal. “And not every machine is right for every grower, so growers had to sort through a lengthy list and try to find information on machines that may – or may not – be right for them. This is a way to help them quickly find and focus on the right machines for their needs.”
For example, a grower who works with 5-gallon pots in a nursery setup doesn’t need to review machines such as the Javo Ecobasic or the Javo Standard 2.0, which cannot handle larger pots. Instead, the web site leads them toward machines such as the Javo Plus M2.0 and the Javo Super, which are suited to their needs.
“We broke the web site down into Solution categories,” Vanderwaal said. “We have tabs for Greenhouse Solutions, Nursery Solutions and Tray Line Solutions. This helps our growers find what they need more quickly and not waste time reviewing machines that won’t work in their situation.”
The machine descriptions, too, have been shortened. The page for each potting machine, as an example, gives the pot sizes and quantities the machine can handle in the heading, along with bullet points of all standard equipment and options listed separately.
“This allows our growers to quickly assess what will work for them and to do some serious background research before they ever talk to their Javo USA representative,” Vanderwaal said. “Of course, our representatives are always there to help and advise, but many growers want to do their homework before they get on the phone with us.”
The web site also offers sample layouts for each Solution. Vanderwaal said this is a key component of the Solutions approach.
“Growers need more than a list of machines and no information on how these machines can work together in a modern, innovative horticulture operation,” he said. “These sample layouts offer tested solutions that are in real-world use to problems that are common for growers around the world.”
Finally, the new web site includes some handy items that aren’t easily discovered without calling a Javo rep. Some of these tools include:
- A drill bit and plate size reference guide
- Videos demonstrating how to adjust some of Javo’s potting machines
- Listings of Javo-refurbished machines that come with a Javo warranty
“We will continue to expand our web site to meet customer needs and requests,” Vanderwaal said. “Everything we do is about helping our clients find good solutions to their challenges.”
To further reinforce the Solutions approach, Javo USA will also have new guides available at Cultivate 2019 in Ohio. These guides also have Nursery Solutions or Greenhouse Solutions approach, guiding growers to the machines best-suited for their environment.
