Horticultural playground to teach kids about the industry

The Dutch municipality of Haarlemmermeer is offering 5 ha for the Greennest Experience & Hotel in Park 21. At this location, a hotel, a nursery, a restaurant with meeting rooms, and the educational playground Greennest Play will be built. Stiching Innovatie Glastuinbouw (SIGN) is developing a plan for this playground.

Greennest Play is a playground where children can discover how important plants are to us, SIGN's program manager Peter Oei informs Glastuinbouw Nederland. "In the 1750 m2 greenhouse, children can climb to their heart's content and scramble between the exciting playground equipment. In the 'Killer Pavilion' they experience how plants catch insects, how biological crop protection is used in horticulture for sustainable cultivation, and much more."

All activities on the site are to contribute to two objectives: inspire visitors to apply (functional) green and to use more tasty and healthy horticulture products. It is expected that the environmental license for the entire site can be submitted halfway 2021, and realization will start in 2021.
