The GreenSys 2019 - International Symposium on Advanced Technologies and Management for Innovative Greenhouses was held from June 16th to 20th 2019 at the Convention center in Angers, France. GreenSys' first congress was organized in 2004 in Belgium and was held every other year from 2007 (Italy, Canada, Greece, South Korea, Portugal and China). GreenSys is placed under the aegis of ISHS (International Society for Horticultural Science).
GreenSys2019 was organized by Agrocampus ouest, CTIFL and INRA, with the support of Angers Loire Métropole and the city of Angers, the District Council of Maine-et-Loire, the Region Pays de la Loire, and the partnership of Végépolys (French competitive cluster). About 600 participants attended, including 400 scientists and 200 professionals from 40 countries. About one hundred PhD students presented their work.
This event was an opportunity to bring together researchers, technicians and other professionals to present their research innovations in greenhouse horticulture and plant factory, to share ideas and knowledge and discuss state-of-the-art and future perspectives for the sheltered crop production sector.
The congress included:
- 3 days scientific sessions on June 17, 18 and 19.
- Technical sessions dedicated to professionals on June 19th.
- Two thematic workshop on June 18th:
- Working group Greenhouse Crops of the European network EUVRIN;
- Workshop on CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
- A technical tour in Nantes Region: visit of SCEA Cheminant (cucumber and tomato production) and Experimental station of CTIFL or in Angers Region: visit of a greenhouse manufacturer (Richel) and of Maison Barrault (ornamental plant production) was also proposed.

The technical day (June 19th) dedicated to professionals started with a plenary conference by Jochen Hemming from Wageningen University & Research (The Netherlands). A set of conferences by scientists and professionals was then scheduled.
