Netherlands: Ministers and floriculture sector sign IRBC Agreement

This evening, Dutch ministers Sigrid Kaag (Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation) and Carola Schouten (Agriculture) as well as a number of Dutch companies will sign the International Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) Agreement for the floricultural sector. With the agreement, parties, from grower to supermarket and from breeder to trader, will make corporate social responsibility agreements related to flower production in Africa.

The document, having been prepared by the Social and Economic Council, includes the agreement that in countries without a minimum wage, workers should make at least 1.90 dollars a day. In addition, agreements will be made regarding the use of chemical crop protection.

The agreement will be signed at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. Our colleagues of BPniuews.nl will be there to report the event.
