Mayer Group wants to reduce their energy costs and at the same time make an important contribution to the regional energy revolution. Using renewable energy saves carbon dioxide and thus contributes to climate protection.
“With the help of our photovoltaic systems, we produce about 60% of our electricity consumption ourselves”, explained Chris Matzner, commercial director of the Mayer Holding Group.
Already in 2010, the first PV-system was put into operation on Mayer's industrial halls. Today, the PV capacity amounts up to 665 kWp. The solar panels are not only installed on almost the entire surface of the roofs, but also on the facade at the Mayer headquarters in Heidenheim.
At their location in Heidenheim there is currently no space available for additional solar systems. However, in the near future the production facility of Mayer Planting Systems in Kisfalud, Hungary, will also be equipped with a large photovoltaic system.
In addition to the installation of the solar panels, Mayer plans to save even more energy by changing their light sources to LEDs throughout the entire production.
