October 2-4, Zundert

Garden writer Ivo Pauwels speaks at GrootGroenPlus 2019

Visitors and participants of the 29th edition of trade fair GrootGroenPlus can expect a very interesting opening. One of the speakers on 2 October is the famous Flemish writer Ivo Pauwels. Pauwels, who is known for his praised vision on nature, will be one of the speakers during the opening ceremony. He will talk about the slogan of the trade fair: Great in Green.

Literary performer
Pauwels is not just a gifted writer; he is a real literary performer. In the seventies, he mainly wrote poems. After that, he focused on writing articles and stories about gardens for a well-known women’s magazine.

In 1995, he became a fulltime writer and wrote columns for newspapers, did radio shows (Radio 2), was editor-in-chief of (inter)national magazines such as Les Jardins d’Eden and of TV shows (Groene Vingers VTM). At times, he even appeared in front of the camera.

He also wrote a number of books about gardens and plants, including Garden's Quintessence, Wooden Dreams, Expressions: Modern Flower Arrangement and Life in oak-framed buildings. Many of his more than 75 books have been translated, sometimes even into African and Japanese.

Pauwels is also chairman of the selection board for the annual election of the Belgian garden personality, of the botanical selection board of Garden Days of Beervelde and of the De Vlaamse Tuinaannemer competition.
