Wu Yazhou, the person in charge of the Jingnan Yongqing Flower Trading Center, says that this is a flower exhibition and sales center consisting of 28,000 m2 of multi-span greenhouses, and a logistics storage area of 2,000 m2, which engages more than 1,700 varieties of flowers. Since its opening in November last year, the total transaction volume has exceeded 6 billion RMB.
In the Jingnan Yongqing Flower Trading Center, in addition to the normal operation of the A, B and E halls of the Flower Exhibition and Sales Center, a large number of modern greenhouses are under intensified construction. “The existing venue is already full, there are more than 100 merchants waiting to be settled, and this number is increasing every day.” Wu Yazhou said that they are now stepping up construction, and the final construction area of the venue is expected to reach 150,000 m2.
After the settlement of Beijing flower merchants, it also led to the development of the local floricultural industry. The relevant person in charge of the Agricultural and Rural Bureau in Yongqing County said that among the flowers sold in the Jingnan Yongqing Flower Trade Center, chrysanthemums, begonia, small rose, and clivia can be grown locally. “Yongqing County is a traditional agricultural county. The main economic crops before were greenhouse vegetables. Now it is necessary to gradually transform into high-end flower cultivation.” He said that from the perspective of profits, a greenhouse covers an area of 3 mu, and the annual net profit of vegetables is 40,000 RMB to 50,000 RMB, but the net profit of planting flowers can reach 170,000 RMB, which will greatly benefit farmers' income.
There are still many changes brought about by Beijing merchants. At present, the idle houses in the rural areas around the Jingnan Yongqing Flower Trading Center are fully utilized, and the rent has risen from 400-500 RMB to nearly 1000 RMB. The wage income of workers has also increased significantly. Female workers have increased from 80 RMB to 120 RMB per day, and male workers have increased from 100 RMB to 150 RMB. "Relying on Beijing merchants and local flower planting, in the future, Yongqing is expected to become an important flower trading center in the southern part of Beijing," Wu said.
