Christmas poinsettias bloom in Ireland

It's 'beginning to look a lot like Christmas' in Oldtown this month, as local business Uniplumo undertakes its annual Poinsettia harvest, a red Mexican plant synonymous with the season of goodwill.

Here, up to sixty workers will toil around the clock, harvesting up to 85,000 festive plants to be delivered to Tesco stores across Ireland, as well as thousands more going to garden centres and other retailers across the country.

Sean Grimes, Production Manager at Unipro, Ireland's largest supplier of the Poinsettia, speaks to The Fingal Independent of the beauty of the Poinsettia, and how the annual harvest marks the beginning of the festive season.
