The Wicked Tulips Flower Farm has moved from Johnston to Schartner Farms.
Keriann and Jeroen Koeman don't shy away from getting their hands dirty. It's a good thing they don't. The soil they're growing on at Schartner Farms is heavier than what they've been used to working with in Johnston.
"There are definitely some bigger rocks over here than in Johnston," Jeroen said.
After four years of planting tulips in Johnston, the soil needed a rest. The Koemans began looking for another place to grow nearly one million tulip bulbs. They initially had their eyes set on property in Charlestown.
"The more we heard about Charlestown is that they tend to be a little bit difficult and so we just couldn't get enough assurances that everything was gonna be okay," Keriann said.
It didn't take long for them to find a home in Exeter. The Schartner family offered to lease them seven acres of their farm.
