China: The floral industry developing in Yuewang Township

Yuewang Township is located in the southeast of Malong District, Qujing City, in the Yunnan Province, and has a land area of 228.2 km2. The village is a national demonstration for the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries. One of these industries is the floral industry.

In order to accelerate the agricultural industrialization process of Yuewang Township, it has introduced a total of 16 agricultural enterprises, including 4 agricultural enterprises in the flower industry.

Yuewang Township saw potential in the flower industry and seized this opportunity to adjust the industrial structure. They then coordinated the development of the systems and mechanisms for flower production with urban-rural integration as the mainline. They relied on Yunnan Bohao Bioscience Group Co., Ltd. to carry out "planting based on orders" to promote continuous industrial development.

In 2019, these 4 flower enterprises planted a total of more than 570 hectares of marigold in Yuewang Township. This planting involved 1,423 farmers, with a production capacity of 45 tons per hectare, which could achieve an average income increase of nearly 10,000 RMB per household.
