"Not everything that is touched by private equity turns into gold," is the headline in the Dutch newspaper FD. From an assessment taken by the newspaper among financiers it would appear that several Dutch companies that were bought by large capital firms would be underperforming. Debts are being sold at suspicious high discounts and it is via these debt papers that one gets ‘a rare glimpse’ into the financial situation of these companies.
The newspaper announces, among other things, that Dümmen Orange and the LED division of Philips, Lumileds, are in financial difficulties.
