US (CA): Westerlay Orchids leases 4-acre Carpinteria greenhouse

Following the new lease of a 4-acre greenhouse in coastal Carpinteria, California, Westerlay Orchids announces an expansion that will enable the company to increase production and explore exciting new varieties just in time for Mother’s Day. The company’s move to increase production initiates a planned expansion in national distribution from 3 million to 4 million plants by 2021.

“We are thrilled to grow our operation and presence in the Carpinteria community, which has supported and sustained us from the beginning”, explains third-generation Dutch cultivator and Westerlay Orchids President Toine Overgaag. The company looks forward to continuing its outreach measures while doubling the production of its 2-inch ‘Darling’ Phaelanopsis. The expansion will also enable Westerlay to explore new plant varieties.

Westerlay Orchids will showcase their collection, including 2-inch Phalaenopsis and bespoke bramble orchids, at booth #109 of the annual Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE), January 22-24 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
